Five Minute Friday: Waking Up

Taking 5 minutes on Fridays is such a relief, in a way, because it removes that nagging perfectionism that stops me from writing some days, and just lets me breathe and well.....WRITE.

The best part is that I know that I am not alone, and that other amazing women and/or bloggers out there are doing the same thing and linking up with Lisa-Jo @ The Gypsy Mama, so we can share our 5 minutes.

Don't you just love sharing? Well, for the most part anyway....

So here goes.....this week's writing prompt is WAKING UP.

GO.

Waking up....well, it isn't the easiest part of my day these days.

You see, I am a night owl. Always have been. Since I was a little girl.

I hated going to sleep. "What am I missing?" I would think.

But even though I am a night owl by nature, I am not NOT a morning person.

That is, until the past couple of years, since I have been dealing with chronic pain.

Mornings are not so fun.

There is achiness and anxiety and worry in those first moments of wakefulness.

But then, I WAKE UP, and I think about my day, and I mentally and with heart speak ask God to write the day for me.

There aren't real words or even prayers because, well, I am not so much a morning person anymore, but my heart longs for Him to guide my day, to direct my steps, to ease the aches & pains -- both physically, mentally, & emotionally.

And you know what?

He's pretty good at it....

What do you think about when you are WAKING UP?

STOP.

I love your writing style! And this is a beautiful thought:

"...my heart longs for Him to guide my day, to direct my steps, to ease the aches & pains -- both physically, mentally, & emotionally."

Mmmm. I love that -- asking God to write the day for me. Beautiful post. {As per normal. ;) }

I like that idea, asking God to write the day for me. Because He won't, will He, unless I ask Him? AND let Him? He'll just let me write it all by myself, and that's never as good!

I think I'm a night person too. I like the stillness of the evening - the quiet reflection.

But then again, I like the promise of the morning too. Every day is fresh with no mistakes in it, right?

I don't choose to wake up early...it just happens. I am definitely a night owl! Hoot hoot! Hopefully you are rested this weekend!

@Kristin T. (@kt_writes) Thanks, Kristen! That is such a beautiful compliment. I really appreciate it AND you stopping by.

@Hyacynth
Oh, Hyacynth, you are too sweet! Thank you so much!

@Ruth
He is just an amazing Father in that He gives us a choice each day. What is amazing is how His mercy is new each and every morning to cover the day before no matter if the choices were GREAT or NOT.

@Stephanie
Oh, yes! I LOVE the line....and the little addition of...was it Marilla or Rachel Lynde?....."No mistakes in it YET!" LOL! Just love it!

@The Farmer Files Yes! I agree. Some seasons you HAVE to wake up early, night owl or not. I am thankful to be in a season where I can relax in my true nature...at least until my little ones come along...hehehe

Hi Lindsey,
Great to read another post of yours on NOBH! I'm a night owl, but I also force myself to wake up early to fit in my gym/treadmill at home workout. So if I go to bed early enough I wake up at 4:45 AM to get started on my exercising by 5:15 AM. But, I also like to sleep past my alarm way too much, especially if I stayed up waaaay too late the night before! When I wake up, I too often think about wanting to go back to sleep! But most of the time when I wake up I think about the days plans and when I will fit time in for quiet prayer time with God. God bless!

@Tracy
Wow! The fact that you wake up at 4:45 AM every morning, or close to that, girl, you are my hero! Especially since you are a night owl too! Thanks for stopping by!
