This week's prompt from The Gypsy Mama is....
When I Look In The Mirror I See....
GO.
When I look in the mirror, I see a girl not so girlish any more.
I see 10 more pounds that my 30 year old self seems to have tacked on for "warmth."
I see the beginning of this double chin, which is SO NOT HAPPENING! ;)
I see the lines, wrinkles, blemishes on my face.
My mother calls them laugh lines. She has them too. She says, "Maybe I shouldn't have laughed so much."
I am glad she did. Because when I look at my face, I see my mother's eyes, her smile, AND her laugh lines.
When I look at my hands, they are my mother's -- those beautiful hands that held me when I was broken, that embraced me when I felt alone, that welcomed me when I came home from my many travels.
When I look in the mirror, I see my history...sometimes history isn't always as "beautiful" as we hope it would be....on the surface at least.
But it is beautiful, isn't it?
Beautiful because the lines, the wrinkles, the fragility have marked a life lived.
STOP.
Would you like to join in? You can. It's simple. Just set your timer for 5 minutes. Write out your heart, and then link up at The Gypsy Mama & let me know if you do so I can read your story too!

Loving your blog, Lindsey! Beautiful words, beautiful thoughts...so happy we get the stay connected through this medium.
So glad you stopped by my place so I could find your place! Am reading through older posts and looking forward to new ones. Freckle Sister! ;)
I love visiting your posts as they are beautiful and inspiring! I see some of the same things you do when I look in the mirror (extra pounds, lines, wrinkles) and it is all so beautiful as we continue to make history with loved ones! Have a blessed weekend and thank you for sharing your world with us at NOBH!
Yes! Emphatically yes! The history is beautiful ... memories held in the sun-patched skin or the shallow wells of wrinkle around the smile lines by our eyes -- that history speaks beauty to me.
Lovely words, lovely thoughts today.
So lovely that you can see some precious qualities of your mother in yourself!
Those laugh lines---I realized just this week how deep one of mine is. I was distressed for a moment, and then realized it's better to have laughed and have proof of it than to have been too somber.
Just had to stop by. Started to raise two little ones on the mission field. Delighted to meet you today. Hope you don't mind if I splash around a bit to get to know you a bit more.

Nice post. I'm starting to see those things too...oh my. But we are all beautiful, aren't we?!
Just read your Friday post this morning (Sunday).....It made me smile and increased those "laugh wrinkles" of mine. You have always been good at that...making me smile, that is. Love you, Lyns....love the words you wrote about our history together!
My husband has been waiting for years to develop laugh lines. He's so excited to have crow's feet now. Haha! Great post!
In five brief minutes, I feel like I know more about you and your mother. How wonderful that you see her when you look in the mirror. A blessing for both of you I'm sure.
I have laugh lines too - and smile wrinkles right around my eyes.

Yeah...love finding freckle friends out there. It's funny because I didn't mention it above, but I think my freckles are slowly fading, and as much as I hated them when I was younger, I started appreciating them b/c I knew that they maked me look YOUNG! ;) You, too, look sweet with them
@Tracy The fact that you not only stop by, but also read each post AND comment on each one, is just so sweet to me. You are a great co-host of NOBH!
