{RE}discovering Him :: Day 3 - The Precious

{this post has a video message by Jentezen Franklin from which this post was inspired}

Google defines the word precious as "....an object, substance, or resource of great value; not to be wasted or treated carelessly."

When something is precious to you, it is of utmost value. You take care of it. You find a special place of honor for it. You keep it safe and secure. It is precious to you.

Psalm 126:5-6 says....
They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.
He that goeth forth and weepeth,
bearing precious seed,
shall doubtless come again with rejoicing,
bringing his sheaves with him.

God asks us for the thing that is precious to us.
The thing that cost us something.
The thing that to walk through or to give up will probably make us cry and weep and maybe even break our hearts.

He asks us for the precious.
It may even be the ONLY thing we feel that we have left.
It might make you want to say, "God, MUST YOU TAKE EVERYTHING!!??!!"

And yet when we give it all
down to

THE.
MOST.
PRECIOUS.

something amazing happens...
God opens up the doors for the supernatural to take place.

Like with Moses in the wilderness throwing down his rod which turned into a snake and ate the other snakes which opened up a series of miracles where Pharaoh had to eventually "let MY people GO!"

Like with Mary who gave up her reputation, her dignity, her future, and almost lost her fiance in the process to realize the dream of giving birth to the Savior of the world.

Like Joseph who had it all taken away only to be placed as a high servant in the house of Potiphar and then to be challenged with speaking truth and subsequently thrown into prison to be forgotten for years by man but then to be restored by God to second in the kingdom.

Why does God use the everything?
Why does God ask for all?
Why does God take the most precious that we have?

Because He did it.

I Peter 2:4-5
"Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious, you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

He gave up His most precious -- His only son to save a world who had rejected Him and welcomed sin, sorrow, & pain.

And when the Father did that, He released the supernatural power we know now as....

Salvation.
The Blood of Jesus.
Eternal Life.

Therefore, to you who believe, He is precious
I Peter 2:7

{RE}discovery :: My life is not my own. He is precious to me. His love for me goes beyond what I value in this world. His plan for me is not without pain, yet the end result can release miracles in my life to show the world WHO HE IS that my words may never be able to do.

And THAT is precious.
